Irreverent is a disregard for the conventional point of view, without being negative. A poetic word that reflect Carine Roitfeld's productive work over a decade, something that gave us spirit and inspiration both in life and career. Finally I can embrace this book as tight as-close, thank you to my dearest friend Dinta Jakile to bring this book for me.

Carine Roitfeld wears controversy as effortlessly as woman wear perfume. She entices it through her provocative work. Alongside the erotic discourse, the bondage, leather, and spiked heels, there is her French sophistication and Russian descent, a mix that has marked Roitfeld's vision since the beginning; hedonism, seduction, and a risk taking. It's an attitude that's been labeled her as a 'porno chic'.

Carine is a free spirit and vision, she's full of ideas and ambition, she have non conventional taste but in very a respectful way. She built a home for the best fashion photographer in the world, she know how to work, push and convince them, and the important think on these day, she's the one who taught us how to respect "the law of business" in fashion industry but at the same time how to respect our integrity and other artists.

Fashion is like a piece of art, fashion is a dream, it needs freedom because fashion without dream is not a fashion. That's the thing why she inspires young artists to emerge and express them self in a free manner and spirit.

It's been a dozen-year of the 'icy' band's career. From the very first Ladytron debut album 604 (2001) when the single "Playgirl" brought some national and international attention to the band and when they were labeled as electroclash instead they rejected this tag but however they survived.

Beginning 2002 with a glosier darker released of "Light and Magic" and critically acclaimed album "Witching Hour" in 2004, made the group took the road of cult following, booking sold-out tours across North America and Europe, and playing capacity crowd around Asia and Latin America. Without any real label support, Ladytron toured exhaustively over the next two years.

In June 2008, Ladytron released their fourth and most successfull album "Velocifero" on Nettwerk. The album spawned three single: "Ghost", "Runaway", and "Tomorrow" leaving behind their traditional hits on the dance floor. During their dozen-year career, they've endured the "electroclash" and "bloghouse" phases and persevered alongside plenty of flash-in-the-pan contemporaries. With this in mind, their fifth album "Gravity The Seducer" could have been approached as more of a victory lap than anything else.

Gravity The Seducer, Ladytron's fifth studio album find its place as Ladytron's most hypnotic record to date, the vocals are submerged deeper in the mix giving more space for the synths to layer, intertwine and generate friction. The result is an album which is less immediate than the predecessors, but more atmospheric. This Liverpudlian synth-pop group build on their creepiest former glories while with holding the hooks that previously put the sweet in their bitter. Opener "White Elephant" signal their new approach, offering an intricate with a swaying melody, keyboards chiming rather than cutting, its rhythm lilting rather than propelling, it's clear that Ladytron have let some light into their previous darkness. "Moon Palace" sounds exactly like its dreary landscapes are covered by two frigid female vocalist. First released single midtempo "Ace of Hz" polishes chillwave's hazy psychedelia into glozzy yet dense ice sculpture. Gravity The Seducer is a transitional album between the periods but yet still frostbite guaranteed.

Considering electroclash "movement" that gave them recognition, it's a pleasant shock that they have stuck around this long and still manage to evolve. By stripping back the layers of overbearing electronic production of the past, they've recorded an album of lush and elegant pop music, beguiling and gloriously cinematic.

At the moment Ladytron is in Asia tour, in two more days they will perform live in Jakarta at Djakarta Warehouse Project. I'm quite exciting, it's been a ten years waiting to watch Helen Marnie and Mira Aroyo's band performance live. Now there is a real utopia coming into our town although very late ;)

DEW Magazine third issue 'Eastern' is ready to publish after two months delayed because of the technical problems. But we're relieved now with the result, our contributors mostly came from Asian regarding this issue. Featuring most talented young professional artist around Indonesia.

DEW third issue speaks about the influence of the Eastern against the world especially in fashion industry. From people, culture, history, celebration, and folklore coming into a theme, design and direction. So through out the growing tree of Asia, we try to pick up the blooming flowers from the late of summer/early fall and translate it into a pieces of artwork.

1. BEETLES

This name was given to the song due to the sway I was doing whilst playing bass; indicative of the Beetles sway or any dance from the early 60's. This song evokes every emotion possible. It's the probably the most skitzo song.

2. ELEPHANTS

Sounds like elephants stomping the grounds - out to cause a rickus! A great trance and meditative experience, but also a very high energy song.

3. COMPOSURE

The opening of this song is a homage to the Lars Von Trier film, Antichrist. I love how high energy the song is, it reminds me of Elephants in that sense.

4. MAJESTY

We wrote Majesty in Malibu in 2007, when Warpaint was just a three piece (Emily, Theresa, and Jenny). Since then it has taken on a life of its own, and has transformed wonderfully. I love the tragedy in this song, you can hear it in Theresa's voice.

5. BEES

Bees was originally written for the bees! The bassline sounds a bit like a mass of buzzin' bees. I love this song, because it makes me dance, and it's not so in your face. I think it needs a few listens before you catch on, then I believe magical things are revealed.

A little bit late to fill an article about Warpaint now, because it's so difficult to imagine a suitable words for this amazing band. If Nirvana having an affair with Siouxsie and the Banshees then the childrens will be Warpaint. Apparently they are singing like the two little girls from The Shining, it 's thrilling and haunting.

Hailing from LA, the band consists of Emily Kokal (vocalist/guitarist) and Theresa Wayman (vocalist/guitarist), Jenny Lee Lindberg (vocalist/bassist) and the piston-like drummer Stella Mozgawa. The original line-up of the band was formed in 2004 with childhood friends, Theresa, Emily, Jenny Lee, and actress Shannyn Sossamon. As the girls battled through the L.A. rock scene for three years, the group eventually parted ways with Shannyn and went through a string of line-up changes before they found Stella Mozgawa.

The band weaves intricate guitar lines, hypnotic vocals, and driving post-punk rhythms into gorgeous, sprawling songs that skirt the line between the soundscapes of psychedelia and intimacy. In 2009 the band released their debut EP titled Exquisite Corpse, followed by their full length album, The Fool, released on October 2010. Exquisite Corpse produced by John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the EP successfully captures the band’s sonic textures and playful dynamism that they’re notorious for creating in a live setting. "The Fool itself is a reference to a state of innocence, to push yourself to see who you are, with the potential of falling on your face to reach liberation, The risk of laughing at the wrong moment or to choose not to act like you know everything," Kokal explained. Recorded in LA, The Fool was produced by Tom Biller (Beck, Karen O, Liars), with further mixes from Andrew Weatherall (New Order, Primal Scream, Bjork) and Adam Samuels (John Frusciante, Daniel Lanois).

Soon they will performing live in Jakarta on July 21, watching the live version is beyond compare, cause the group playing consistently impressive. In Live, each one is in her own zone, often with eyes shut and head loose, It's almost like watching them make up songs in real-time at every show. Warpaint has toured incessantly over the last couple of years with standout performances at CMJ, SXSW, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Coachella, as well as the Leeds, Reading and Laneway festivals. They have also shared the stage with The xx, Band of Horses, Yeasayer, Akron/Family, Javelin, and The Walkmen. But so should the fact Kokal and Wayman were raised in hippie communes, but sound like the sky has slightly caved in. Come smash yourself against their song and performance, you won’t regret it.

Meet the new Givenchy Girl, Alyona Subbotina, having a runway exclusive-opening Givenchy Fall 2011 show is fantastic for rookie's debut. Alyona is from Kazahkstan and currently based in Singapore (Represented by Mannequin) where she is developing her model portfolio as well as studying at university. First time I recognize her when she's in Singapore, despite having never worked in major market, her book has gone from strength to strength.

Alyona has an awkward beauty and completely typical of Tisci's Muses-say it, Maria Carla, Lara Stone, Lakshmi Menon, Natasha Poly, Ranya Mordanova, Iris Strubegger, Daphne Groeneveld, even Lea T with mostly of them has an intense staring look and hand-picked by Tisci itself to translate his vision, so no wonder if Alyona has been selected to opening Givenchy show, she's more than just suitable for it. Tisci also proved he's a man with an expert eye to accredited with launching the careers some of the world's leading supermodels, and I hope today will be including Alyona Subbotina.

Now she's placed on a global exclusive, we just stay waiting patiently before she hit other runway, ad campaign or mostly editorial spread for some well known magazine. So guys, this vixen is more than ready to being watched! Let's say hi to Alyona :)

Rumour surrounding the massive tent of the Albert Memorial of the Kensington Garden on February 21st. Everybody was wondering what Christopher Bailey was vacant to do next after he made it rain during his last men’s fashion show. From Daisy Lowe to dearest Allison Mossheart were flown into the crowd buzzing the same question perhaps.

Well Christopher Bailey bring the snow this time with many models donned a po’boy caps and trim coats as a star. If while the rest of fashion world is obsessing over the ‘70s, Christopher Bailey looked to Jean Shrimpton and her fellow shades of ‘60s in the form of chunk wedges and retro silhouttes with a contemporary edge for the new season. Never deviating too far from the much-beloved Burberry classics, Bailey sent down coats, jackets and trenches in lovely tangerine, pea-greens to the black mink while he played a silhouette-cropping the body, dropping the shoulder and exploding the sleeves.

Fur also replaces the studs of spring summer and wraps around arms and aprons, leather is only seen on the piping cream padded macs and in super skinny ribbon belts to mid-widht-probably about two inches wide. All of the models heads were topped with black and white paneled flat caps and their hands carried the extraordinary variety of bags to match.

The show was ended with an indoor snowstorm, as a PVC-caped models did their final walk up the runway. The show was also broadcast on the big screen in London's Piccadilly Circus, with the opportunity to buy the collection right there on the spot. Talk about mod-ern convenience, I almost wish I was outside to see the crowd’s reaction.

Dressed is a documentary film by David Swajeski spotlight on Nary Manivong, a young clothing designer who defied the odd of broken childhood and homelesness to reach his ultimate dream, a show of his collection at New York Fashion Week. 'Dressed' is a cautionary tale of just how dillusioning the path to becoming a designer can be, narrated by leading fashion industry expert, student, and designers who relate their own perspectives about what it takes to make it in the highly competitive industry.

At 14, Growing up in Colombus, Ohio, Mr. Nary and his three siblings were abandoned by their parents, who were Laotian imigrants, leaving them homeless. He ever slept in a doughnut shop for several months until he met a local fashion executive who provided him a place to stay. One day he came across a copy of Vogue Magazine and knew instantly he wanted to become a clothing designer. Making pieces out of scraps, he cobbled together his first show at 17 in Ohio but knew he had to get to NYC to make his dreams come true.

After several trips to New York, he secured a backer and debuted at New York Fashion Week in 2005 to much praise. He seemed well on his way to success until his investors pulled the plug, and he was once again left homeless and destitute. Reports said that Manivong is back and showing his latest collection -- a collaboration with Ally Hilfiger (a daughter of Tommy Hilfiger) -- at the upcoming New York Fashion Week.

This documentary is a truly motivating story about one man's journey to fulfill his dream and becoming a successful fashion designer in the big apple city. It's an inspiring reality for today generation, a flashes of trials and tribulation incurred and the perseverance and determination it takes to make it in the fashion Industry. It's an intimate alternative not a glamorous story, I would suggest keeping your eyes on butchery show, if that you're looking to, because they could be more glamorous rather than designer.

It has been a years since I following Coute Que Coute pretending to be as a loyal visitors looking what they have provide in male fashion scene. Perhaps is about a dreams, a dreams that I never expected to see on my mail inbox after they had replied my last email about my recent work. It's like a stopping moment, I can't react againts what I just read, I just can hung up the phone and calling my friend, asking a silly question "Is this real!?"

Now finally I can see my work on Coute Que Coute coincide with Alexander Mcqueen Autumn/Winter 2011/2012 Men's Collection. Satisfied? it's more complicated rather than any kind of words which could explain my feeling now. But i just can say I'm very grateful..

It was a chill atmosphere on Monday, January 3rd. Rain came falling, grey skies surrounded all over the places, laying around without any burden on my mind it's something that we barely missed while living in this city, the city of troubles. At the same day it was my first shoot in 2011, welcoming the new resolution with my fellow friend Shadtoto Prasetio and new Polish muses who just lost in Jakarta, Mateusz Rogenbuk.

I just knew him 2 weeks ago via social networking while he was in Hongkong through my friend Bhisan Rai. Just have a conversation with Mateusz at once and the next day He just appeared in front of me like a ghost, singing without any word, He quickly transformed into something that invites to catch him. Behati Prinsloo (Woman) and Jamie Strachan (Next NY) star as a stranger who meet on a corner in Beverly Hills one perfect evening. They share one night of exquisite romance and the next morning return to the same corner. This is a seductive collaboration project from i-D Magazine summer edition and thecorner.com (virtual space) presenting a selection of cutting edge brands for men and woman.

It's a little bit late to posting this, but i can't hardly ignore this stunning collaboration, i think this is one of the most romantic and beautiful video editorial that i've ever seen. Great and smart concept, story, script from the name of thecorner.com itself, beautiful capture by Kayt Jones as a Director/photographer to put an emotional message to every single scene and i won't forget the back song on this editorial. Completely beautiful!

'HAPPINESS' REVEALED BY HURTS (ALBUM REVIEW)

Hurts

Manchester, UK electro-pop duo Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson known by Hurts finally released their debut album 'Happiness' on monday september 6th. 'Happiness' delivers pretty much what has been promised from leaked tracks and singles - Synthpop that is both elegant and enigmatic sounds. Aside from 80s revival issue, Hurts present a striking contrast to the glow-in-the-dark pop stars who have been ruined the charts of late. Listening to Wonderful Life and Blood, Tears, and Gold, take me back to an era when U2 didn't suck and Depeche Mode was still a mainstream force. Sunday maybe is the only track that define brighter moment on this album, whilst Stay build an enigmatic experience and cinematic visual when u heard it, especially when the gospel choir play the part . Illuminated track somehow more like 'One Republic' sounds that i didn't like, maybe this is kind of commercial song from this album. Same as like illuminated, Better Than Love is kind of mainstream that have been unfairly overlooked by many, but there is an exceptional for the clip, i'm in love with it. Devotion ft. Kylie Minogue will do wonders for the duo in terms of exposure but alas, but whatever people have said, i still love Kylie contribution on this track expecially the ending part. Unspoken and Water, both are my favourite tracks angular with the previous single that has been leaked. Hurts could be bring another era of electronic sounds and images on this day, despite they have been criticize through this album. But overall this album is more than worth it to listen up, especially if u want to reminisce Duran Duran, Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys era.

RIP Corrine Day

I was completely sad when first time i heard this news last saturday. One of the greatest british fashion photographer known by her rawness style on subject and the one who responsible discovering Kate from rise to fame had passed away. Corrine lost her fight againts the brain tumor she had been battling since being diagnosed last year.

Corrine known as an 'Anti Glamour' artist in the early 90s and the one who create 'waif' look through Kate Moss that change british fashion on this day. Despite a recent return to the fashion fold, Corinne Day remains unapologetic for taking a raw, unflinching look at the world. She ever says, "Photography is getting as close as you can to real life, showing us things we don't normally see. These are people's most intimate moments, and sometimes intimacy is sad."

But for some right reason she turned her back on the airbrushed glossiness of magazines, complaining "they're stale, just about sex and glamour, when there are other elements of beauty." This is the same feeling that have been confusing me since a couple of months ago, when people only followed and forget a honesty side of their artwork. Sometimes rawness become similarity, and characteristic being staked.

Corrine's work reminds me back actually, about our main purpose while producing an artwork. Which mean to entertain people as well as an ourself being entertained. I hope people will recognize this period, same as like Corrine thought about her times more than a decade ago.

First time when i hear this album, I’m not crush on it but i falling in love with it. These albums maybe have a cheesy sounds lyric but in a good way not like what Gaga's did. Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory is definitely genius duo, from the trippy album 'Felt Mountain' to an electronic twisted sounds 'Black Cherry' and then ‘70s massive glamazon 'Supernature' to a folksy brilliant album 'Seventh Tree' and now ‘80s disco fantasy 'Head First'.

I have read all the negative review by recent media for this album, but they critiques for me is just too technical.. They just look in the same perspectives. Goldfrapp has known by their creativity to make music with different ambience.. They always have exploration things and don’t forget it’s always seemed too as that they have been the ones to hold open a door for other musician influence. It’s not like how Alison and Will pretend or must to be.. But it’s like how they did for the fans and their own self, and honestly we like it and it’s more than enough.

What ever media have said, I think Alison and Will has done perfectly put a neon-lit ‘80s wonderland with Hi-bass lines with a plenty of that synth sound, laser, jumpsuit and all that shinny thing. And the results are all-out pop, gloriously so. Opener ‘Rocket' is a fine continuation of the winning track likes Ooh la la, Caravan Girl, Strict Machine and A&E from the previous album. Listen this track carefully and you will feels like jumping with fashionably ripped Van Halen t-shirt. (It’s really nostalgic T T)

When Goldfrapp leave the roller disco, they find other retro gimmicks to play with in this album, like the dated techno sound of "Dreaming" or the arena-rock breakdown in "I Wanna Life" . And after we get busy on the dance floor Alison didn't forget to accompanied us while we're riding home through beautiful song and lyric 'Head First' it self.

Goldfrapp also revive the vocal experimentation that has been their trademark twist on electronica. Listen to "Hunt" with its yelps woven into the background, recalls Imogen Heap, but the gorgeous minimalist closer is a "Voicething" -- built from carefully stacked layers of Alison's own breathy coo -- has no modern pop equivalent.

At last if it doesn’t any track from this album knock the top ten of chart, that will be a mystery for future generation to mull because this album deserves it amazing!

2 Many Djs @ Beatfest Review

One of the best show that I've ever seen in Jakarta. Magnificent performance by Dewaele brothers. Their open the show with radio transmitter stuff, using local frequency and mixing at the same time. Crazy!

My skins start crawling when some crew pull the radio soulwax backdrop and one giant screen show us how to scream well. Yeah, visual start to playing and crowd become crazier than before, and of course drugs has a good role too, perhaps pills or acid!?

I forgot what first track they had played, but they were playing kind of chemical brothers "hey boy hey girl", human resource vs. 808 state "dominator", the gossip "standing in the way of control", hot chip "ready for the floor", daft punk "robot rock", MGMT "kids", depeche mode, justice, slayer, sepultura, nirvana, etc. it's really hard to remember because my own condition was totally paralyzed.

Something what i can remember well is about visual and lighting stuff, is totally sicked! And what ever track that Dewaele brothers played, there is no constant beat! So the crowd has kind of freestyle dancing.. haha.. That guy really knows well how to make people become crazy!
